Columbus Launch Pad: Ignite, Impact, Innovate

The Columbus Launchpad application is designed to empower the faculty at Christopher Columbus High School to turn their visionary ideas into reality, while actively involving students and making a meaningful impact in the community. This application process is rooted in the Marist pillars of simplicity, love of work, in the way of Mary, family, and presence, ensuring that the selected initiatives align with the core values of the school.

Key Features:

1. **Faculty-Student Collaborative Ideation:**
  • Faculty members can submit innovative project proposals that incorporate the Marist pillars and involve student participation by at least 50%.
  • Students are invited to contribute ideas and collaborate with faculty members to refine and enhance project concepts.
2. **Community Impact Focus:**
  • Proposed initiatives must outline clear community impact goals, highlighting how they will positively affect local neighborhoods, organizations, or causes.
  • Projects should demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and reflect the Marist value of making a difference in the lives of others.
3. **Marist Pillar Integration:**
  • Each application should demonstrate how the proposed initiative aligns with at least one of the Marist pillars:
  • Simplicity: Projects should emphasize straightforwardness and meaningfulness, avoiding unnecessary complexities.
  • Love of Work: Initiatives should showcase a passion for learning, growth, and contributing positively to the school environment.
  • In the Way of Mary: Applicants should illustrate how their ideas reflect the nurturing and compassionate spirit of Mary.
  • Family: Projects should foster a sense of unity, cooperation, and support among the community.
  • Presence: Initiatives should encourage mindfulness, active engagement, and a strong sense of belonging.
4. **Holistic Evaluation Process:**
  • The Launchers, a panel comprising Columbus families, alumni, and administrators, will review and assess each application based on creativity, feasibility, community impact, and alignment with the Marist pillars.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be invited to present their proposals in person, providing an opportunity to showcase their dedication and enthusiasm in front of the Dream Launchers.
5. **Funding and Resources:**
  • Selected projects will receive financial support and resources to help bring their ideas to fruition. First Place will receive $25,000, 2nd Place $10,000 and 3rd Place $5,000.

  • Successful initiatives will be celebrated and recognized through school-wide events, publications, and acknowledgment of their community impact.
The Columbus Launchpad application process fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and community engagement. By encouraging faculty and students to work together on projects that align with the Marist pillars, the program aims to create a lasting legacy of positive change and meaningful contributions to society.
