SENIOR PINNING CEREMONY

Pinning ceremonies, with a rich history in academic institutions, symbolize the warm welcome of graduates into the alumni community or a specific profession. These ceremonies honor students for their achievements and recognize the significant transitions they are about to embark upon.

Exciting news from Christopher Columbus High School – we are thrilled to declare the upcoming 2nd Annual Senior Pinning Ceremony with the Class of 2024. It is our sincere wish that Senior Pinning becomes another cherished tradition at Columbus, adding to the tapestry of celebrated customs within our school community.

Pinning Sponsors
The highlight of the ceremony is the moment that the members of the class receive their pins from their Pinning Sponsors. Each senior participating in the ceremony needs to choose a Pinning Sponsor who will accompany them to the event and will pin the “C Pin” to their jackets. The seniors will sit with their Pinning Sponsor throughout the Mass and Ceremony. Family members of the students are welcome to attend and will sit in a different section. If you plan to attend this event, it is important that you now begin to choose your Pinning Sponsor and confirm their availability to join you on February 22nd.

Who Should Pinning Sponsors Be?
The Pinning Sponsor should be someone that the student considers a mentor; someone who was especially supportive and formative in their Columbus experience. This person (male or female) may be an alumni friend, a teacher, coach, counselor or a parent or other family member (anyone who played a significant role in the student’s high school experience).

In addition to the pinning, the ceremony will include Mass and short speeches from our president, principal and members of our alumni association’s leadership. The Columbus Pinning Ceremony is a meaningful way to celebrate that seniors are one step closer to graduation and officially joining the proud Columbus Alumni Brotherhood. It is not a requirement for the pinning sponsor to be a Columbus alum.
