CCHS Hosts First Ever Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

Christopher Columbus High School made history yesterday, March 16, 2024, as it hosted JitzKing Promotions for the first-ever CCHS Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament!

With a staggering turnout of over 300 competitors and more than 500 visitors, the event buzzed with excitement and energy throughout the day.

A special acknowledgment goes out to our remarkable students who demonstrated their skills on the mats and provided unwavering support to their fellow teammates. Their dedication and sportsmanship truly exemplify the spirit of the Explorer community. Mr. DeTuya and I extend our deepest pride and gratitude to these outstanding individuals, both on and off the mats.

Give a round of applause to the following competitors who earned medals in their respective divisions:
  • Senior, Victor Castellanos: 2nd Place Gi and 3rd Place No-Gi
  • Senior, Richard Aguilar: 1st Place No-Gi and 3rd Place Gi
  • Junior, Evan Sequiera: 2nd Place Gi and 2nd Place No-Gi
  • Junior, Stefano Altadonna: 3rd Place Gi and 3rd Place No-Gi
  • Junior, Sebastian Illas: 2nd Place Gi and 2nd Place No-Gi
  • Junior, Richard Cristobal: 1st Place No-Gi
